Jisse Kooij (2001) started playing the horn at the age of eight. Fascinated by the warm and rich sound of the instrument, he decided to devote himself entirely to mastering the horn. This dedication took him to the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where he obtained his bachelor's degree with the renowned horn player Martin van de Merwe. During this training, Jisse took lessons from Rob van der Laar, Jonathan Wegloop and Hanna Guirten, among others.
Making music together has always been important for Jisse. As soon as he could play enough notes on the horn, he joined an orchestra and has played in many orchestras ever since. Currently, he also plays in the Dutch Brass Trio which is being coached at both the conservatory in The Hague and Rotterdam.
In addition to a great passion for horn playing, Jisse Kooij also has a love for teaching. He is an enthusiastic and patient teacher who likes to convey his fascination and passion for the horn to his students. Jisse will therefore continue his studies with the Music Teacher Training Course at the Royal Conservatory.
