Conditions and rules

Conditions – rules Muziekacademie Den Haag – 2024-2025

Registration
To register for lessons or courses, the registration form must be fully completed, signed, and submitted to Muziekacademie Den Haag.
For adult students (21 years of age and older), 21% BTW (VAT) is applicable to the lesson fees. The fees shown in the chart already include the 21% BTW.
Lessons for new students start in the first week of September. The teacher will contact the student in the last week of August to discuss placement. Lessons are scheduled at a time mutually agreed upon by teacher and student.
Enrollment is always for the full season for weekly lessons, or “full-year courses” (individual lessons, classes, group lessons and weekly ensembles) and for the complete course for all other lesson forms and courses.
Registrations made after September 1st are valid for the remainder of the season. The season begins on
September 2nd and ends on July 7rh. Withdrawal from lessons and courses before the end of the season is only possible per February 1st 2025, on the condition that the request be received by the administration in writing before January 1st 2025.
The debtor (responsible for payment) for students under the age of 18 is the parent or legal guardian. For students between the ages of 18 and 21 years, the registration form must be signed by the student AND by a parent / legal guardian. The parent / legal guardian is thereby the legal debtor.

10 Lessons card

  • A 10 lessons card is good for 10 half hour lessons (or 5 full hour lessons, and so forth).
  • The student receives his copy from the teacher.
  • The 10 lessons card can only be used for lessons with the teacher specified on the card, unless a different set up was agreed on at the time of purchase.
  • A maximum of 2 10 lessons cards can be purchased per season (for the same type of lessons).
  • 10 lessons cards must be used during the season of purchase.
  • Any unused lessons at the end of the season (July 7th) will NOT be reimbursed.
  • In case the student is not able to attend a lesson, the lesson must be cancelled by notifying the teacher 48 hours prior to the lesson time; otherwise, the lesson will be counted as having been used on the 10 lessons card.
  • The 10-lesson card can only be used for individual instrumental and voice lessons.

Payment
The lesson fees for all courses must be paid in advance in two installments per season, i.e. in the last week of August and the last week of January. Payments are effected by authorized automatic debit (SEPA) only. The lesson fees will be automatically debited from the bank account of the debtor in the last week of August and the last week of January for the full-year courses, In exceptional cases, payment can be made in 4 installments (send a written request with motivation to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
For shorter courses, payment must be received one week before commencement of the course.
Should the automatic debit not be possible through fault other than that of Muziekacademie Den Haag, the debtor will be requested to make the payment using another payment method.
If the payment is not received on time, the student will be barred from the lessons; the payment obligation of the debtor, however, does not expire. Lessons may be resumed once the payment is received, but missed lessons will not be caught up or compensated.
If you decline automatic debit, there will be a € 10,- administration charge per invoice.

New students registering for an instrumental or vocal full year course (A1 thru A7 and B1 & B2) will be charged a one-time registration fee of € 15.
Invoices are sent per email. We try to ensure that they will not be filtered as spam, but this is impossible to ensure with 100% certainty: please check your spam box.

Termination of the lessons
Registration can only be terminated by means of a written request addressed to the (director of) the Muziekacademie. Termination during the season is only accepted in the case of the student relocating to a domicile outside of the Haaglanden region. At the discretion of the direction, proof of registration in the new municipality may be required. Requests for termination of the lessons during the season must be made in writing, clearly stating the reason for early withdrawal. The withdrawal is effective as of the first of the month following the month in which the withdrawal request was made. You will receive confirmation of receipt of the request.

Cancellation of short courses, workshops, masterclasses or full year courses
Only written cancellations will be accepted. Cancellation up to 1 month before commencement of the course is free of charge. For later cancellations, the following charges apply:

  • 1 month to 2 weeks before commencement: 50% of the tuition fee.
  • Less than 2 weeks before commencement: 75% of tuition fee.
  • Same day cancellation or no show: 100% of tuition fee.
  • If you have registered for the new school year and decide to cancel your registration, this must be done in writing, before September 15th 2024; otherwise, you will be billed for the first half of the year.

Missed lessons
If, due to illness of the teacher or other extenuating circumstances, a lesson must be cancelled, the student will be informed as early as possible. In the case of a prolonged illness of a teacher (3 weeks or more), a substitute will be appointed. Though every effort will be made to catch up lessons missed due to aforementioned circumstances, this may not always be possible. In the case of weekly lessons, a maximum of two missed lessons per season may not be caught up or compensated in another manner. Lessons falling on holidays will not be rescheduled / compensated.
Should one or more lessons of a course with a specific number of classes be cancelled due to aforementioned circumstances, the end date of the course will be adjusted so that the full program can be completed by the regular teacher. The teacher is not required to catch up lessons missed by the student.
