Else Schaaij started her flute studies at the music education academy in Alkmaar with Eugenie van der Grinten.
She completed her studies at the Utrecht Conservatory where she studied with Abbie de Quant.
As a flutist, she mainly focused on playing chamber music.
Besides being part of the Lotos ensemble, she forms a regular duo with pianist Wim Leising.
She also played in the Balkan Orchestra (EMS) and with ad hoc ensembles.
From 1988, Else was a teacher at the Music School The Hague, which later became Koorenhuis.
Since September 2013, she teaches at the Hague Music Academy.
Else Schaaij has been teaching students of all ages and levels, both individually and in groups, for many years.
The best age to start playing the flute is around seven years old.
Earlier consultation is also possible: for very young children there are children’s flutes!
The pleasure in making music is most important and every year we work towards a performance.
This is also possible in combination with other instruments, because making music together is even more fun!
You can buy or rent a flute before you start.
