This course is intended for young musicians who want to take an entrance exam for a conservatory or other music education. This can be for Classical, Pop, Rock or Jazz. The MDH provides all necessary lessons and information to prepare you as well as possible for this. In addition to theory and practice tests, you will also receive training in presentation skills, so that you will feel increasingly comfortable on stage. As a result, you will be more confident and self-aware at your audition.
We assume that you have your own teacher for your main subject. If there are problems with this, the MDH can advise on this.
In addition to the lessons, we work hard throughout the year towards a final performance at the end of April, at which each student will give a presentation together with his fellow students. The repertoire required for the entrance exam will be presented here.
During the year lessons will also be given about Posture and Breathing and Singing.
There will be a moment in December when the teachers of the Preparatory Course will give their advice on whether taking an entrance exam is feasible and therefore advisable. There will also be consultation with the principal subject teacher in this matter.
All teachers are also affiliated with Skrjabin, which provides all kinds of workshops and courses: personal guidance in preparation for performances, help for cabaret artists to prepare for their entrance exam for a theater school, mental coaching in case of problems, help with attitude problems by one of the best Dutch movement therapists, special breathing therapy for "stuck breath" but above all the teachers also provide tailor-made lessons.
