Recorder
Sonja Gruys studied recorder at the conservatories of Utrecht and The Hague, where she obtained her Master of Music degree.
Sonja performs with various ensembles and specializes in music from the Renaissance and Baroque eras.
At the moment, she is mainly active with recorder trio FaSuperLa and the duo Baroque Bicolore.
Sonja also works as a recorder teacher. People of all ages and levels can come to her for recorder lessons. She finds it challenging to find music for a student concert in which every student, regardless of age or level, can participate. It may happen that the youngest participant in the ensemble is 6 and the oldest 75.
Sonja is good at giving group lessons to beginners, but her specialty lies in the musical deepening and beautification of the sound for advanced players.
